41 W. Jefferson
The structure is a one-story building, but it appears to have two stories matching the typical façade of Downtown Naperville and all other buildings on that block of Jefferson Street. The structure is designed to allow for an addition should future generations decide to add a second floor.
The new retail facility was built to compliment surrounding 100-year-old buildings and fit in seamlessly. The updated streetscape including paver sidewalk, landscape planters, and masonry seat walls help to connect Jefferson Street shoppers to the nearby Main Street Promenade and vice-versa. It required extensive planning, coordination, and implementation to complete this challenging project in just under 10 months.

Sequoia General Contracting Corp. was chosen to complete the interior buildout for Filson, which is located in a tenant space of Sequoia’s award winning project 41 W. Jefferson Street. The buildout included a stock room, two fitting rooms, a unisex bathroom, and a sales floor. This Filson store was the first location in Illinois. This four week project was completed on time and on budget with a very happy tenant and landlord.

Main Street Promenade
Sequoia was selected to construct a 55,000 square foot 2 story office-retail building (known as MSP-E) in downtown Naperville, immediately adjacent to the city public parking garage. The project scope included the tear up and complete reconstruction of Main St. between Benton and Van Buren Streets. A unique feature of the structure is part of the 1st floor space was constructed under the elevated 2nd floor level of the parking deck. The structure consists of a steel frame, supported slab, with the exterior walls being structural studs, 7 different brick types, and cast stone with curtain walls and windows.
The mandatory 8 month schedule was attained through the 2nd harshest winter (2013-2014) on record. Site logistics to construct the building in downtown Naperville was coordinated with Naperville Building and Public Works departments to implement multiple traffic detours, pedestrian detours, and access routes to assure minimal public interferences. The architectural design of the façade was carefully integrated to compliment the façade features of its sister building 55 S. Main Street.
